Apple iPhone SE 4 Mobile Phone | July 2024 Leaks!
Display Makers Compete for Apple's Next iPhone SE Orders
According to recent reports, three display manufacturers are currently in a competitive bid for Apple's next iPhone SE orders. Surprisingly, Samsung has offered the lowest price per panel at $30, followed by BOE at $35, and Tianma at $40. However, none of these companies have secured the contract yet. Apple has countered with an offer of $20 per panel, leading to ongoing negotiations.
Expected Features of the 2025 iPhone SE
The upcoming iPhone SE is anticipated to feature panels similar to those found in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Expected specifications include a 6.1-inch screen with a 1170x2532 resolution, 1,200-nit peak brightness, and possibly Ceramic Shield glass, although this last feature might be omitted to reduce costs.
Performance and Competition Among Display Makers
A recent report from Korea indicates that both Samsung Display and BOE have achieved high yields for these panels. In contrast, Tianma is unlikely to be a significant competitor due to its lagging technology. Samsung's advantage lies in its previous production of iPhone 14 panels, enabling it to reuse existing tooling or even surplus panel inventory. This likely contributes to Samsung's ability to offer the lowest price per panel.
Strategic Moves by Samsung and BOE
Samsung's strategy includes pricing its panels competitively for the SE model to undercut BOE, leveraging its higher profit margins from panels for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series. On the other hand, BOE is seeking additional orders to recover from the setback it experienced last year when it faced difficulties in producing iPhone 15 panels, resulting in Samsung securing more orders.
The Unpredictable Release Cycle of the iPhone SE
The iPhone SE diverges from Apple's typical iPhone release cycle, with only three iterations released so far and an unpredictable pattern ranging from 2 to 4 years between generations. Despite this variability, one certainty is that the iPhone SE 4 will not be launched alongside the standard iPhone lineup.
